Salford is set to undergo a “magnificent metamorphosis” after years of neglect, according to Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas.
Fuksas, who also designed the Vienna Twin Towers and the Rome Congress Centre, is part of the design team for the regeneration of Salford and is working with Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company, the North-west Regional Development Agency, English Partnerships and Salford council. They hope to secure funding from a combination of public and private bodies. Over the next 20 years, the plan is to transform Salford into an urban quarter of boulevards, waterside paths, parks and rejuvenated heritage buildings.
