This was a tough choice to make, but in the end this company beat the rest to sit on top of the specialist contractors’ pile this year. So what does everyone else have to measure up to next year to knock Cementation off? Well a good place to start is to send your staff home. That’s right – give them the day off. At least that’s what Cementation did to thank its 462 employees for helping it to win a Gold Award for the third year running from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (it had almost halved accidents to just 24 in 2005). Then you might want to consider attaining accreditation from Investors in People, getting environmental management standard ISO 14001, and qualifying for safety certificate OHSAS 18001. If you’ve ticked all that off your list and have still got time for more then why not take the customer satisfaction surveys that you’ve been diligently collecting for the past few years and analyse them for what your customers could do better as well as your own business.
