Construction of first office phase at £2.1bn Stratford International Quarter will start this summer
Construction on the first office phase of Lend Lease’s mammoth £2.1bn Stratford International Quarter will start this summer, after Transport for London signed up as the first office tenant.
Transport for London will take a 265,000 sq ft office building at the International Quater, which is being developed by Lend Lease in joint venture with London and Continental Railways.
Work is already underway on the first phase of International Quarter, a 333-home residential scheme, Glasshouse Gardens, that overlooks the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Dan Labbad, chief operating officer of Lend Lease, said: “Securing TfL as a major pre-let marks the emergence of a new generation of offices in east London that will make a lasting contribution to the local economy.”
Steve Allen, managing director of finance at TfL, said: “We are consolidating our office accommodation into a smaller number of larger buildings.
“The International Quarter in Stratford provides the ideal opportunity for us to make further progress with its excellent transport links while enabling us to achieve significant savings.”
