Terry Farrell & Partners has won a competition to masterplan 70 acres of land on the site of the Earl’s Court exhibition centre in west London
The practice beat international competitors to work on the site, which will include up to 8,000 homes, offices and shops.
The two exhibition halls at the site are to host the volleyball events for the 2012 Olympics and will then be demolished.
The appointment was made by Capital & County, which owns the biggest part of the site. Two other parts are owned by Transport for London and Hammersmith and Fulham council.
The masterplan will be developed over the next few months and a planning application will be submitted next summer.
