Transport for London has awarded Taylor Woodrow Construction a £20m contract for enabling works on the East London Line extension.
The work, which is part of a £900m extension for the line, will provide a foundation for the main works contractor who will be selected in June next year.
Taylor Woodrow’s contract will include the refurbishment and replacement of 21 bridges along the Kingsland Viaduct, the temporary relocation of paddocks at Spitalfields City Farm and repair work to an underpass at Cold Blow Lane in Lewisham.
The contract is the first major project to come out of the recently established LUL Alternative Supplier Framework, which named three preferred construction companies.
Tim Peach, managing director of Taylor Woodrow Construction, said: “Our engineering expertise has put us in an ideal position to win an increasing share of Tube work.”
