Consultant appointed sole cost manager on London Overground upgrade

Sweett Group has been appointed as sole cost manager on a four-year framework to upgrade London’s Overground network for Transport for London (TfL).

The scope of works include improving capacity on the East London Line (Highbury & Islington to New Cross, Crystal Palace and Clapham Junction) and North London Lines (Richmond to Stratford).

The main enhancements include platform extensions, station modifications and depot reconfigurations.

Sweett said it will also provide supplementary project management and sustainability consultancy as part of the engineering and project management framework.

The appointment continues the firm’s long-standing work with London Overground. Sweett was previously involved in the redevelopment of the East London Line phases 1 and 2.

Phase 1 redeveloped and extended the line between Highbury and Islington and Crystal Palace and West Croydon, while phase 2 – which opens today – extends the network between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction.
