Winner
David Strong
David Strong has had a phenomenal 2007, emerging as one of the most influential figures in the drive to make the industry sustainable. The year started with the formation of the UK Green Building Council which he was instrumental in getting off the ground – the group has hit the ground running since its launch in March, attracting scores of leading firms across the spectrum of the industry, from clients through to engineers, architects, contractors and manufacturers. Not content with driving change in the industry Strong has also played a key role in the politics of sustainability. He wrote a key chapter in the Blueprint for a Green Economy publication which was produced by the Conservative Party’s Quality of Life Group headed by John Gummer and Zac Goldsmith in September.
And as if that was not enough for one man Strong also moved jobs, quitting his role at the BRE as managing director of its Environment division, to take up a post at Renewable Energy Systems, a division of contractor Sir Robert McAlpine.
