National subcontractor organisations are surveying firms to benchmark the state of payment practices the industry
Subcontractor’s organisations have launched a survey to try and benchmark the current state of payment practices in the construction industry.
The National Specialist Contractors Council and the Federation of Master Builders are conducting a survey of subcontractors’ experiences with payment from main contractors.
The survey follows the launch of the Supply Chain Payment Charter by the government-backed Construction Leadership Council earlier this year.
The survey can be complete online and will run until 17 October.
Suzannah Nichol, chief executive of the NSCC, said: “We are hoping for a big response as it will then provide us with some great data and a benchmark for the Supply Chain Payment Charter.”
She said she hoped to “demonstrate that payment is still a major” for small firms in the construction industry.
She added: “Confirming that there is a problem is the first step action needs to follow if construction is to realise its full potential and support the growth of the UK economy.”
