Martin Powell moves over from Concrete Society to replace Keith Eaton at Institution of Structural Engineers

Martin Powell has been named new chief executive of the Institution of Structural Engineers.

Powell, who is now chief executive of the Concrete Society, will replace Keith Eaton, who leaves after nine years in the post.

The body's president, Sarah Buck, said “Our present chief executive, Keith Eaton, has achieved tremendous change over the last nine years and Martin will build on that firm foundation.

“Martin is a man with excellent communication skills which will be essential in raising the profile of structural engineering.”

Powell, who has also worked at Pioneer International and Redland, said he was delighted at the appointment.

He said: “I look forward to working with staff and members of the institution, as well as wider stakeholders, in promoting and supporting structural engineering and its role at the heart of the modern, worldwide built environment.”Institution of Structural Engineers names new chief exec
