Chairman of Strategic Forum 2012 task group says industry should support the delivery of the London Olympics
Peter Rogers has called on industry to stop “bashing” the London Olympics.
Commenting on BuildingTV Rogers said: “I just would people would stop bashing it and I wish they would let them get on with it.”
Rogers chaired the Strategic Forum 2012 task group and was involved in drawing up the construction commitments. He said he was currently working on the 'sidelines' of the 2012 Games.
“I think what they [the ODA] are trying to do, which is think before they act, is absolutely right. We’re far too prone to coming up with good ideas and getting on with the building, before we have an understanding of what we want to do.”
“I am a huge supporter of the Olympics. It should be a fantastic successful project.”
Rogers was speaking at the opening of the Building Hall of Fame exhibition. Rogers was one of 40 influential industry figures inducted in the Hall of Fame. Ten judges from across construction voted for those with the greatest influence on the industry over the last 40 years.
