Lightweight steel roof tiles from Decra have been used on two timber-frame modular housing projects for the Lincolnshire Rural Housing Association.

Parctiles in three colours were used on phase three of the housing development at St Swithin’s Close, Bicker, Boston, while Decra’s Oberon tiles were used on the earlier phase two.

According to the firm, the tiles are particularly suitable for modular buildings owing to their light weight. They are also low-maintenance and, says the firm, independent research by Davis Langdon shows they are up to 66% cheaper than many other roofing systems based on a whole-life costing.

Approximately 25% of every Decra tile’s steel content is recycled. Additionally, when the roof is eventually decommissioned, the steel can be recycled again.
