Joint venture led by developer reveals cinema and ice rink on banks of the Mersey
A joint venture led by developer St Modwen Properties has unveiled plans for a cinema and ice rink complex on the banks of the Mersey.
Widnes Regeneration, a joint venture between St Modwen and Halton council, has released the plans for the scheme in Widnes. Additional leisure facilities, including bowling and climbing walls, could also be added to the site.
Halton council said the plans would complete the development of the Venture Fields economic zone and bring an additional 350 jobs to the region.
Council leader Tony McDermott said: “I have personally written to more than 70 leisure developers and we have tried without success to incorporate a cinema in the Queens Hall and the Plaza in Peelhouse Lane. At last our patience and determination has paid off.”
