Spurs kicks back plans for Lendlease scheme next door to stadium

Football club’s concerns over ‘public safety’ persuade council to defer planning decision over 3,000-home proposal

Tottenham Hotspur FC has dealt a final-minute blow to Lendlease’s plans to build nearly 3,000 homes next to the club’s stadium by arguing that there had been an “inexplicable failure” to account for crowd control.

Haringey council voted to defer a decision on the North London scheme until June following the last-minute objection from the club, which was delivered the night before the planning meeting that had been expected to give the plans the green light.
