A new chief executive has replaced David Fison at Skanska UK days after the company reported an operating loss of £41.5m.
Mats Williamson, the former president of Skanska Sweden, arrived in the UK on Sunday, three days after the company reported its results for the first half of this year.
The loss followed a writedown of £19.6m on a problem PFI hospital job in the second quarter of the year and a writedown of £30m in the first quarter. Skanska linked Fison’s exit to the poor figures.
Turnover at Skanska UK rose 9% from £695m to £758m over the six months. During the same period, the global group boosted turnover by 8% from £5.3bn to £5.7bn; operating profit rose 10% from £183m to £202m.
