Contractor was favourite to construct Gerald Ronson's 46-storey Heron Tower
Skanska has clinched the contract to build the Heron Tower in the City of London.
The contractor is already working on the pre-construction works, and demolition of existing buildings has already started on hte site at 110 Bishopsgate. The main construction works will commence in January 2008, with piling starting in the spring. Completion is due for the first quarter of 2011.
The 46-storey tower designed by Kohn Pederson Fox will be 242 metres high..
David Fison, chief executive of Skanska UK, said, “At Skanska, our whole focus is on integrated project management and eliminating waste so we are delighted that we have been chosen by Heron to do exactly that on this most prestigious of contracts.”
Skanska will provide input from all its operating units including mechanical, electrical, plumping and IT services, piling, stell decked, suspended ceilings and engineering resources.
