Skanska has been awarded the £141m contract to build a luxury mixed-use scheme in Knightsbridge in London.

The 31,600sq m project combines commercial, residential and retail space.

K1 Knightsbridge, which was designed by Fletcher Priest Architects, is being developed by Chelsfield on behalf of Saudi Arabian investor the Olayan Group.

The scheme, which will include 35 residential units and a new rooftop restaurant, will see the redevelopment of a large site bordered by Brompton Road and Sloane Street in the heart of Knightsbridge.

Skanska was employed on the second phase of the project under a pre-construction services agreement in November 2016.

The site’s historic facades will be retained as part of the project, which will also create step-free access to Knightsbridge underground station via a new entrance from Hooper’s Court.

The station entrance currently at the corner of Sloane Street and Brompton Road will be relocated further west along Brompton Road.
