Steve Sams takes over from Alan Gillman as UK executive vice president of Skanska Infrastructure Development

Construction services group Skanska Infrastructure Development has appointed Steve Sams as new executive vice president of its UK and Ireland operations. Sams takes over from Alan Gillman who will stay with Skanska ID to help develop new projects in the UK and abroad.

Sams joined Skanska ID at the beginning of December from Taylor Woodrow where he was head of project finance. He has also worked in the nuclear and offshore sectors.

Praising Alan Gillman’s role, Simon Hipperson, CEO and president of the company, said: “During the course of our discussions over the strategic direction of the business, Alan proposed the change in leadership as a way of enabling Skanska ID to meet the challenge of achieving the next level of growth in the UK. I am delighted that he will stay with the company in a role that continues to lend his experience and support to our efforts.”

Sams added: “Alan has done a great job in creating the business and establishing us as a premier player in the UK PFI. I look forward to working with him and the rest of the team to continue to grow the company and to deliver outstanding services to all our customers and stakeholders.”
