Boris Johnson’s planning advisor to become new deputy of policy and planning
The Mayor of London has promoted Sir Simon Milton to deputy mayor of London following the resignation of Ray Lewis.
Milton, who will stand down as a Westminster councillor and as chairman of the Local Government Association, was previously engaged as planning advisor to London mayor Boris Johnson.
But following the resignation of Lewis over claims of impropriety during his time as a vicar, Milton will now be asked to act as deputy mayor in charge of policy and planning.
The former chairman of Westminster City Council revealed the mayor’s planning “Blueprint for London” last week, which included dropping former Mayor Ken Livingstone’s 50% affordable housing target, and reforms of housing space standards.
