ODA enters negotiations with Team McAlpine Consortium for 80,000 seat stadium
The Olympic Delivery Authority is to enter into negotiations with Sir Robert McAlpine over the contract to build the Olympic stadium.
The Team McAlpine Consortium, including Robert McAlpine, architect HOK Sport, and engineers Buro Happold and M-E Engineering, has been selected as preferred bidder on the project. The ODA will now enter negotiations with the consortium, with a view to an official appointment in the New Year.
Design proposals will now be developed by the team, and will be revealed next year. The brief for the 80,000 seat stadium includes the capacity to reduce in size after the Games.
David Higgins, ODA chief executive, said: “We are entering into negotiations with a world class consortium in Team McAlpine and I am confident they will conclude successfully in the New Year. As you would expect, we have robust contingency plans in place should negotiations with Team McAlpine not conclude.”
