The judges felt the practice had used the one-off house in a very particular way, which had led to the development of three different house typologies.
Nevertheless, each house was a careful and well judged response to the restrictions of the site, and the judges felt this was just as assured when dealing with challenging urban settings as it is with greenfield sites.
The judges said the houses “created a real sense of place and demonstrated a sophisticated handling of materials. Above all, this is somewhere you would really wanted to live”.
