Ryder Architects and Faber Maunsell have been employed by visual arts organisation Lotus + to help build Hotel Monument, an offbeat installation in Newcastle upon Tyne.

A single hotel room and reception will be placed on top of the 40m Grey’s Monument in the centre of the city, allowing guests to sleep in the same room as the grade II-listed statue of Earl Grey. Pending planning approval, the installation will open in the summer.
