Building awarded highest sustainability standard under the CEEQUAL certification scheme
The £7m Science Central building in Newcastle has been awarded the highest sustainability standard under the CEEQUAL certification scheme.
The CEEQUAL scheme measures the sustainability of civil engineering and infrastructure projects against a standard set of requirements.
The scheme, developed by a joint venture between Newcastle University and the city council and designed by FaulknerBrowns Architects, scored 77% against the CEEQUAL scheme’s standards.
The scheme also includes rainwater harvesting, a living wall and low energy lighting.Sir Robert McAlpine is the contractor and Mott MacDonald is the engineer on the project.
