Cardiff scheme designed by BFLS with Willmott Dixon as main contractor
The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff, Wales’ national music and drama conservatoire, will open to a new intake of students this month after a radical redevelopment.
The £22.5m scheme comprises a 450-seat chamber recital hall, a 180-seat theatre, four rehearsal studios, an exhibition gallery, a terrace overlooking Bute Park and a new café bar.
It was funded by a grant from the Welsh Government, loan finance, and £4m of philanthropic donations.
The buildings were designed by BFLS and built by Willmott Dixon, with Arup acting as acoustic engineers, Mott MacDonald handling structural and M&E consulting, and Davis Langdon as QS.
