The work at Waddesdon is being bankrolled by philanthropist the Rothschild Foundation, with the Rothschilds having connections to the village dating back to the 19th century.
In all, 75 homes – 65 apartments and 10 houses – are proposed which will span two interlinked sites.
The design centres around shared woodland and grassland that provide links between gardens and existing trees.
The architect said façade materials of clay tile and timber have been selected to age gracefully with minimal maintenance over an extended design life.
