Grimsby contractor taken over by Rok has been re-established under original name Topcon
Topcon, which was taken over by Rok in 2005 and was briefly known as Rok Topcon before the original name was dropped altogether, has now been reformed by the local management team, headed by managing director Mark Rendall-Tyrrell.
Rendall-Tyrell said that the Grimsby business had always been trading profitably and was a victim of Rok’s national problems. Rok collapsed in November.
Rendall-Tyrell is supported in the new venture by commercial director Jason Clark and local businessman John Fenty as chairman and finance director. The three are equal shareholders.
Fenty is a local councillor and also chairman of Grimsby Town football club. He had previously been a client of Topcon when it built a facility for his fish processing business.
Topcon was founded in 1979, the business made its name working primarily for local authorities, especially on schools, and in social housing. It was also active in the industrial and commercial sectors, including food factories.
