UK architect RMJM has won the Islamic architecture award at this week’s Cityscape conference in Dubai for its work on the Zliten Campus at Asmariya University for Islamic Sciences in Libya.
The whole campus, sited 120 miles southeast of Tripoli, is based on a RMJM masterplan, with 100,000m² of academic accommodation with a library, conference hall and residential accommodation for 4,600 students.
Gordon Hood, director at RMJM, said he was “delighted” to win the award. He said: “It emphasises the strength that RMJM maintains in its understanding of local culture and traditions.”
