Consultant QS on the largest new build project in the North Yorkshire Moors
Consultant RLF Manchester has secured a contract with North Yorkshire Moors’ National Park to provide QS, CDM co-ordination, employers representative on the £3.6m project.
The scheme involves the creation of 12 self contained flats that provide assisted living facilities.
The health, leisure and educational amenities will also be made available to the wider community of the Esk Valley in North Yorkshire.
The development will be the largest new build project in the North Yorkshire Moors since the area was earmarked as a National Park.
RLF has been employed by housing support and care provider for the elderly Abbeyfield UK, and the Housing Corporation, North Yorkshire County Council and Scarborough Borough Council.
Local contractors Tolent Construction will undertake the construction works.
RLF has been involved since the project’s inception to ensure that the design will complement the surroundings and make use of locally sourced materials, most notably Yorkshire Stone.
Darren Bailey, associate partner at RLF Manchester, said: "This is an exceptionally important project in terms of sustainability and the environment and we are happy to be able to utilise our skills to promote development activity in the area which will enhance the National Parks surroundings."
Work has started on site with completion scheduled for December 2008.
