Consultant completes work on the £3m day care centre in North York Moors
Robinson Low Francis has completed work on a day care centre and supported housing scheme in Esk Valley on the North York Moors.
The consultant acted as project manager and QS on the £3m scheme.
Mark Newberry, partner at Robinson Low Francis, said: "The care homes sector is key for us, and this project in particular has been great to be involved with as it had challenges such a long pre-planning history and a large number of key stakeholders."
The Esk Moors scheme will provide 12 self-contained flats and a substantial day care centre with extensive recreational, health, welfare and catering services for older people from the surrounding rural areas.
Designed by Burns Architects and developed by Abbeyfield UK, it took many years of fundraising and campaigning for support, but took just 10 months to build on site.
Newberry said: "The brief was to provide superb residential accommodation to those people who would otherwise have had to move far from the area they have lived in for a number of years.
"The challenge was to handle the project, which is built on a remote and demanding site in a national park, in a sensitive way."
The first residents are expected to move in during January 2009.
