Cost consultant is working with Alfred McAlpine on a number of large hotel schemes

Rider Levett Bucknall is targeting its business at the thriving hotel market in the Midlands area.

Partner Paul Beeston said that hotels would make up a large proportion of the £11.6bn investment in the Birmingham area over the next ten years. He said: “Over £9.2bn worth of investment is either planned or underway in the city centre alone.”

The firm recently worked with developer Alfred McAlpine, who has a joint venture with operator New World Leisure to develop and operate Ramada and Days branded hotels. The firm is providing strategic cost advice and project management services for these schemes.

The consultant is working with Alfred McAlpine on its proposed acquisition of the hotel component of Chord Deeley’s St George’s scheme in Birmingham’s jewellery quarter. The scheme has recently been submitted for planning permission.

It is also actively working on Alfred McAlpine’s 111 bedroom Ramada project in Rugby town centre.

Beeston said: “Right now we have three other new hotel schemes that are on the verge of being submitted for planning.”
