Consultant will manage and provide cost modelling on new stadium concept
Consultant Rider Levett Bucknall has been appointed by StadiArena LLP to provide business cost modelling on its new stadium concept.
The independent firm, backed by developer the Cassidy Group, has appointed the consultant to manage the process of the concept which promises to enable future stadia to gain fuller commercial and community benefits.
The concept enables an empty outdoor stadium to be quickly transformed into an economically viable indoor arena by converting the stadium into a temporary smaller performance space, using retractable doors to separate the end stand from the rest of the stadium.
This, the firm says, will bring new revenues to an otherwise dormant location and provide a welcome venue for local businesses, alternative sporting events, the entertainment industry and the community at large across the world.
David Quirk, partner at RLB, said: “The opportunity to tap into a new source of income has been made available to the marketplace.
“Within 20 minutes a flexible arena that is perfect for a variety of events from rock concerts to product launches, sporting events to conferences, can be created to accommodate from as little as 2,000 to over 20,000 spectators.
“This will all be at a fraction of the cost of building a new separate facility and will bring a unique edge to stadia which can now rival arenas on the world stage.
“Subject to design, existing stadia can also greatly benefit from this innovative design and build concept, creating a welcome new stream of unexpected income for the business.”
