Mark Walley appointed to build RICS’ status and grow membership

The RICS has created a position of UK executive director to increase the organisation’s recognition, membership, and promote the use of its products and services.

Mark Walley joins from the IFS School of Finance, a financial training body, and will report to the RICS chief executive Sean Tompkins.

In a statement the RICS said: “Mark will work with the UK board to develop a revitalised strategy and business plan to promote RICS in its most mature market.

“His focus will be to continue to build RICS’ status and market recognition, enhance member engagement and loyalty, grow membership and the use of the organisation’s products and services.”

Walley said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as UK executive director of RICS. The UK is a key market which has many opportunities for further development and so I am particularly pleased to be taking on this challenging position.

“A major part of my role will be to revitalise the strategy and business plan for the UK market. I shall be looking to implement a highly customer focused approach with the aim of continuing to build RICS and the profession’s standing, as well as ensuring a future pipeline of qualified talent is attracted to the profession within the UK.”

He will begin working on 28 February.
