Work to start later this summer
The Royal Veterinary College has chosen RG Carter for a £20m redevelopment of its Hertfordshire campus.
The college said it was looking to expand its Hawkshead site, near Potters Bar, as its current facilities were being stretched.
It said: “The college has experienced a recent growth in teaching, clinical and research activities.
“This is now putting increasing pressure on the college’s building and facilities more, particularly at Hawkshead.”
The wider project team includes Glasgow-based architect Norr Consultants, Aecom as services engineer, Quantem Consulting as quantity surveyor and Conisbee as structural engineer.
The project, which is expected to be finished by February 2021, received detailed planning from Welwyn Hatfield borough council in April.
