Robbrecht en Daem and Witherford Watson Mann's expansion to the East End space is revealed
The revamped Whitechapel Gallery in east London was unveiled this week. Designed by Dutch architect Robbrecht en Daem in collaboration with UK architect Witherford Watson Mann, the £13.5m expansion will see gallery space increased by 78% in the Victorian-era building.
Mott Macdonald acted as project manager, Max Fordham as environmental, mechanical and electrical engineer, and Price & Myers as structural engineer. The gallery is due to open to the public on 5 April.
