A report on industrial property, commissioned by agent GVA Grimley, highlights changes in the sector over the past 20 years.
The main finding was that there has been a loss of 4 million jobs owing to high costs of UK labour. The research showed that costs in this country are five times those of Eastern Europe and 10 times that of China.
The research, undertaken by Cranleigh University, was presented at the Sheds 2007 conference in Wales yesterday, run by Building’s sister magazine Property Week.
It did however show that 1 million distribution jobs have been created since 1978.
