A list of 70 companies that have pledged support for Building’s Rebuilding Trust campaign in the nine weeks since the Office of Fair Trading’s statement of objection was published will be presented to the body on Monday.
Rebuilding Trust was designed to restore faith in construction after the OFT investigation into cover pricing and bid-rigging, which accused 112 contractors of anti-competitive behaviour in April.
The list of signatories, along with their pledges, will be presented on 30 June, the date the companies involved in the investigation must submit their response to the watchdog. Some of the UK’s biggest clients and contractors have signed up, including Bovis Lend Lease, Kier, Balfour Beatty and Costain; the clients include Land Securities and British Land.
Rebuilding Trust has also drawn support from trade bodies and MPs, and the OFT itself has also voiced support for what the campaign hopes to achieve.
There is still time to sign up to Rebuilding Trust. Email rebuildingtrust@building.co.uk with your name and company name to pledge your support.
