The Stellar Tower designed by Make Architects, which was originally pencilled in for a desert site in Abu Dhabi, will now be built in the centre of the city in Allttihad Square.

The £390m scheme, for the Ministry of Finance, has just received planning permission and is set to become the tallest building in the city, at 66 storeys. It will house a conference centre, shops and leisure facilities. James Thomas, the project architect, said: “We’ve tried to respect local traditions and have used devices such as repetitive patterns to emulate Arabic architecture.”
