Work will include revamping Stanley airport and other infrastructure projects
Ramboll has won the contract to provide upgrades to Stanley airport on the Falkland Islands and work on a number of other projects across the islands, including new port facitilies and revamping the RAF’s base at Mount Pleasant.
The Falkland’s government said Ramboll had been chosen as the single supplier for its professional services framework contract and will start work later this month.
Financial terms of the contract have not been disclosed. The overall budget for the various schemes is believed to be around £100m.
A small technical and professional team from Ramboll will move to Stanley, the islands’ capital, where it will coordinate a range of specialist services to deliver the various schemes. The firm will be working with local firm Ajax on the scheme.
Falklands Legislative Assembly member Roger Edwards admitted there had been a series of widespread delays in getting the work started due to a lack of resources and capacity but these had now been resolved.
“Delivering ambitious construction plans requires a stable base of experienced specialists who can be deployed swiftly as needed and this is what the single supplier professional services framework will provide,” he added.
