Spanish contractor Dragados to face-off against team of Costain and Vinci
Spanish contractor Dragados is to battle with a consortium of Costain and Vinci to deliver London Underground’s £500m upgrade to Bank tube station, Building understands.
The winning bidder will be asked to improve capacity at the strategically important station.
London Underground has been through a lengthy process of early contractor engagement on the project after first issuing an OJEU notice in November 2011.
The client hopes the process will deliver “significant cost, risk, programme, and other benefits” through asking firms to develop innovative solutions to upgrading the station with minimum disruption.
The consortiums of Bam Nuttal, Ferrovial and Kier; and Morgan Sindall, Balfour Beatty and Alpine Bemo Tunnelling, are no longer in the race.
