Organisers behind football World Cup unveil designs for third stadium
The organisers behind the Qatar 2022 football World Cup have unveiled designs for the third planned venue for hosting the tournament.
The latest designs are for the renovated Khalifa International Stadium, situated in the Aspire sport complex on the outskirts of the country’s capital city Doha.
The Khalifa stadium will be expanded to 40,000-seat capacity and will host group, round of 16 and quarter final matches during the tournament.
A joint venture between Midmac Contracting and Six Construct is overseeing the main contractor works on the stadium. Dar Al Handasah and Projacs are the design consultant and project manager respectively.
It is the third stadium for which final designs have been revealed so far, follwing Al Wakrah and Al Khor.
