Materials supplier reports strong trading for first four months despite slowdown in roofing sales.
Materials manufacturer SIG has reported strong trading in the first four months of 2006 despite a slowdown in roofing sales.
In a statement to be made at today's AGM, group chief executive David Williams will report strong sales of insulation, commercial interiors and specialist construction, with like-for-like growth in the UK, Europe and the USA.
But he will say: "In roofing, the reduction in market demand which we reported in March has continued, making trading conditions difficult in this product sector."
Williams will add that market conditions in Germany "have not been helpful", but that on mainland Europe, France, Poland and Benelux have seen growth.
The firm has added ten stores to its network since the start of the year, taking its total to 506.
