Populous, the architect formerly known as HOK Sport, has returned to the black in 2008 with a pre-tax profit of £83,411 (2007: £119,360 loss)

In the year to 31 December 2008 turnover rose 13% from £9.1m to £10.3m, which included a £715,989 contribution from the Middle East. The pay of the highest paid director rose from £662,728 to £668,476.

At the end of last year, the Olympic stadium architect announced a management buyout from US parent company HOK Group.
