St Modwen pushes ahead with £100m development
Developer St Modwen has appointed demolition contractor PM Harris to begin the £100m job to redevelop the Ministry of Defence’s Long Marston estate in Warwickshire.
PM Harris will strip out former MoD accommodation buildings internally and then mechanically demolish them in a six-month demolition job. 90% of the waste will be recycled for use elsewhere on the site. St Modwen did not give a value for the contract.
The demolition is in advance of St Modwen’s plan to create 500 homes and a leisure centre, complete with 150 holiday lodges, on the 478-acre site.
Peter Rudd, senior development surveyor at St. Modwen, said: “Ground clearance, site clean-up and remediation are key stages in the regeneration process, and at Long Marston we are now gearing up to prepare this area of the site for future development. When the six month programme is complete, St. Modwen will be in a prime position to progress the next stage of development.”
