Developer sets sights on regenerating 10 acres of tired office buildings
Developers U+I and Calthorpe Estates have submitted plans for a £300m regeneration scheme in the west of Birmingham.
The site on Hagley Road covers 10 acres of disused office buildings, which will be redeveloped into a mixed-use scheme called New Garden Square.
The planned mix includes up to 400 apartments, 56,500 sq m of office space, potential for a 100 bed hotel and 2,400 square metres of retail space that can accommodate new bars, restaurants and convenience stores. The Glenn Howells-designed development retains the existing Grade II listed buildings fronting the Hagley Road.
If approval is granted construction is earmarked to get underway in early 2020.
