Developer Al Maabar has hired consultants to masterplan mixed-use scheme that included cinemas and parks
An international development company is to build a mixed-use development in Baghdad.
The £5.6bn project, backed by Al Maabar and leading Abu Dhabi based developers, will comprise some of the largest entertainment centres in Baghdad in addition to recreational parks, a golf course, museums, theatres and cinemas.
The managing director of Al Maabar, Yousef Al Nowais, said the project complemented the growing level of support provided by the UAE to the government of Iraq.
He added the firm would be “working very closely with the relevant ministries in Iraq to ensure this project meets the specific needs of the Iraqi people.”
Consultants Dar Al Handasah have been awarded the contract to create the conceptual masterplan, along the guidelines set by the urban planning and municipal authorities in Baghdad.
