DLG Architects enters planning application to redevelop a 12-acre waterfront site in West Yorkshire town.
DLG Architects has submitted a planning application for the £200m regeneration of a 12-acre waterfront site in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
The Waterfront Quarter, for client Ramsden and Colne Developments, will include 750,000 ft2 of state of the art offices, residential apartments, restaurants, cafes, a hotel, a gym and a crèche. With a balance of commercial facilities and living space it is anticipated that the development will create a new vibrant and sustainable environment and generate up to 2000 jobs when completed.
The mile long site fronts along the River Colne and Huddersfield Narrow Canal and is next to a busy road network that gives access to the town centre. A major part of the planning strategy was to deliver a scheme that incorporated these location aspects for the benefit of public access.
Subject to approval, the scheme could start on site in 2007.
