The two architects are the only British-based firms to have made shortlist for the revamp of Florence Airport
Pascall + Watson and HOK International have made the shortlist to redesign Florence Airport.
The two are the only British-based firms on a shortlist which includes Kisho Kurokawa of Japan, Berlin-based Arch. Noebel, and Austrian practice Coop Himmelb(l)Au.
Pascall + Watson have entered in collaboration with Milanese contractor Ausglobe Formula.
The winner, to be selected early next year, will be appointed executive architect on the project, which aims to redevelop the existing airport.
British architects have lately been winning increasing amounts of large infrastructure work in Italy: Stirk Rogers Harbour completed an underground station roof at Capodichino Airport, Naples last year; Foster + Partners are masterplanning a new city in Santa Giulia near Milan; and Zaha Hadid is to design a Mediterranean museum in Reggio Calabria.
