Hundreds of angry workers were this week protesting outside the Wembley national stadium project in north-west London. The protests were continuing hours before a star-studded line-up, including prime minister Tony Blair, England football manager Sven-Goran Eriksson and England captain David Beckham, was due to arrive to salute the completion of the stadium’s landmark arch.
