A 4500 m2 British embassy in Harare, Zimbabwe, has been designed for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office by Manser.

Three wings housing 120 diplomats and staff are to be built of insitu concrete and shaded from the sun by steel canopies, aluminium louvres and trees. Confidential security measures have been incorporated to counteract espionage, rather than terrorism. A UK design team that includes Building Design Partnership as structural and services engineer and Turner & Townsend as quantity surveyor is working with local consultants. Mace has been appointed project manager and main contractor but will subcontract construction to local firms.
