Mobile phone company Orange is suing contractors Kier Regional and Haden Young after a flood in one of its data centres.
Orange is suing the two companies for £2.6m after its Bristol data centre suffered damage in August 2001.
Kier fitted out the site and Haden Young provided M&E services. Orange claims Haden Young’s workmen failed to install the correct joint to connect the chilled water system to an air-conditioning unit, which led to the flood.
It says Haden Young was in breach of contract and negligent, and failed to exercise reasonable skill and care in fitting the parts.
Orange is accusing Kier Regional of failing to complete the work it was hired to do in a “workmanlike fashion”.
