Sir Robert McAlpine and Bernicia Housing Group work up for grabs
Major investors in Northumberland have joined forces to promote a series of contracting opportunities arising from planned work worth more than £250m.
A supply-chain event next week will present details of upcoming contracts from AkzoNobel, Bernicia Housing Group, Northumberland County Council, the National Renewable Energy Centre (Narec), and event organisers Arch Group.
Contract opportunities include large scale construction and engineering; concrete, aggregates, timber, carpets and floor coverings, secondary steel, drylining, suspended ceiling installation, raised access floors, business services, catering, property maintenance, waste management, roofing, decorating, fencing, stationery and other categories.
Among the work will be second- and third-tier suppliers for AkzoNobel Global’s £100m Ashwood Business Park, which is being constructed by Sir Robert McAlpine.
Bernicia, meanwhile, is developing a £64m five-year investment proramme that includes the construction of some 228 new homes and the refurbishment of others.
Peter McIntyre, group managing director of Arch, the Northumberland Development Company, said it planned to invest over £70m in housing and commercial property developments over the next three years.
“The combined value of all the contracts presented at the event will be a tremendous boost to our economy and we would like to see local people and businesses benefitting from these new opportunities,” he said.
The event takes place from 9.00am-12.30pm on 10 May at the Holiday Inn, Seaton Burn, NE13 6BP. For more details e-mail robyn.murray@arch-group.co.uk or call 01670 528400.
